In a powerful speech delivered in Kyiv on October 21, U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin issued a stark warning to Ukraine’s allies: a Russian victory in Ukraine would spell disaster for all of Europe. Speaking at the Diplomatic Academy, Austin cautioned that if Ukraine succumbs to Vladimir Putin’s ambitions, the collapse of European stability would soon follow.
“Putin is pushing us towards a world where empires trample sovereignty, breaking the post-WWII international order,” Austin said, adding that Putin seeks to prove his autocratic system is stronger than global democracy.
