Bryson DeChambeau’s victory in the US Open may be seen as impressive, especially considering the rivalry between LIV Golf and the PGA Tour. However, there is more to his success than meets the eye. While his popularity has soared, there are additional factors that set him apart from other PGA Tour professionals. Recent revelations have shed light on his unique qualities.
The Scientist, as DeChambeau is often referred to, participated in a total of four PGA Tour-sanctioned events, all of which were major tournaments. He delivered remarkable performances in each of these competitions. Notably, he finished T6 at the Masters, secured second place at the PGA Championship, and claimed the silver trophy at Pinehurst No. 2. Although he failed to make the cut at the Royal Troon, his exceptional performances in the first three majors have earned him the 9th spot on the unofficial money list of the PGA Tour. It is worth mentioning that this ranking is based on the PGA Tour’s monetary standings, not LIV Golf’s.
Dylan Dethier, a writer for Golf Magazine, recently shared a post on X stating, “Bryson DeChambeau played in four PGA Tour-sanctioned events in 2024 (the four majors). He earned $6.99 million in those events. That puts him at No. 9 on the tour’s unofficial money list—even though he can’t play the tour.” This revelation is surprising, particularly considering DeChambeau’s association with the Saudi-backed league.
