CATL presented the new Freevoy Super Hybrid battery on Friday in Beijing, China, developed for plug-in hybrid vehicles, which allows for a range of over 400 km, thus providing an experience similar to that of a 100% electric vehicle.
In addition to enabling greater autonomy, this new battery from CATL supports fast 4C charging, meaning that with a 10-minute charge, it is possible to achieve a range of over 280 km.
CATL has announced that the new battery utilizes cutting-edge technologies and also integrates sodium-ion technology, which allows for discharge at extremely low temperatures, reaching -40°C, and charging in conditions as low as -30°C.
The Chinese battery manufacturer also announced that it has already established partnerships with various automakers to include the new Freevoy battery in their models, including Li Auto, Avatr, Deepal, and Changan. Additionally, Chery, SAIC, and Geely are expected to integrate the Freevoy into their plug-in hybrid ranges and combustion engine vehicles as an extended range solution. CATL’s expectation is that by 2025, the battery will be present in 30 different models.
