The 2024 season has reached its conclusion with the Belgian GP, marking the completion of 14 rounds out of the 24 on the F1 calendar. Verstappen currently holds a 78-point lead in the driver’s championship and Horner believes that Red Bull’s fourth-place finish at Spa-Francorchamps was the best result they could have achieved.
Despite starting from the front row at the Belgian GP, Sergio Perez slipped back during the 44-lap race and only managed to secure eighth place. Verstappen, on the other hand, made significant progress as he moved up from 11th to fourth position, thanks to George Russell’s disqualification.
Taking all of this into consideration, Horner believes that Red Bull performed to the best of their abilities at the Spa-Francorchamps event.
Based on the reaction of Horner, it is evident that both he and Red Bull are relatively satisfied with the 12 points they earned over the Belgian weekend. Hamilton, Bottas, and Norris were the drivers who finished ahead of Verstappen.
While Horner acknowledges that Red Bull made the most of their Belgian GP weekend, he also believes that Verstappen could have won the race if he had started in first place. The 26-year-old secured pole position during qualifying but was penalized with a 10-place grid penalty.
As previously mentioned, there have been 14 rounds completed in the 2024 F1 season, with only 10 races remaining. From Zandvoort onwards, every event will hold great importance for the top four teams as they all have a chance at the world championship.
Competition has been fierce among the leading teams and is expected to continue in the second half of the season. For Red Bull, the focus will be on consistently scoring solid points with both of their contenders.
