The Aston Martin Young Driver Development Program welcomed 19-year-old Jak Crawford for his first Formula 1 testing session. Held at the Red Bull Ring, the venue of the Austrian Grand Prix, Crawford had the opportunity to try out the Aston Martin AMR22 car. Throughout the day, he completed an extensive race program, covering over 400 km without interruptions. Crawford expressed his gratitude to Aston Martin Aramco for their support and described his first day in an F1 car as a fantastic experience. He also mentioned that his main goal was to familiarize himself with the car’s systems and adapt to the speed. Despite the challenges of driving at high speed, Crawford felt he adapted well and is looking forward to the next opportunity. In addition to his sporadic appearances at racing events with Aston Martin this season, Crawford will also continue his campaign in Formula 2. Aston Martin Team Evolution Program Director Robert Sattler acknowledged the importance of a young driver’s first laps in an F1 car and praised Crawford for his quick adaptation and collaboration with the team to improve throughout the day. Meanwhile, Mercedes entrusted Italian driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli with the task of testing their 2022 car, the W13, in Barcelona as part of their ongoing testing program.
