Lando Norris indirectly criticized Lewis Hamilton’s outfit during the Hungarian GP. The race marked the seventh different winner of the 2024 season, but it was not without controversy. Norris expressed his frustration with team orders in the cooldown room, taking a jab at Hamilton. However, Hamilton remained calm and was praised for his maturity by Damon Hill.
After the race, Norris showed his annoyance with the team orders situation in the cooldown room. When Hamilton complimented Norris’s pace, the 24-year-old responded disrespectfully, suggesting that Hamilton’s car was fast seven years ago and it was their time to shine now.
Despite the harsh words, Hamilton clarified his earlier statements and didn’t let the issue escalate. This mature response was acknowledged by Damon Hill, a former F1 champion.
Hill described Norris’s comments as weird and dismissive, but Hamilton was unfazed by them. The 1996 F1 champion applauded Hamilton for his mature and generous interpretation of the incident.
After the cooldown room incident, both drivers seemed to have moved on. They celebrated on the podium, spraying champagne on each other. Hamilton also wished Norris the best in his championship hunt and advised him to continue working as a team.
Currently, Norris trails Hamilton by 76 points. He hopes to make significant progress during the Belgian GP weekend, especially since Hamilton will face a 10-place grid penalty, benefiting his rivals.
