Just days ago, NFL fans and insiders were almost certain Davante Adams would be traded from the Las Vegas Raiders, with the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints reportedly leading the pack of suitors. However, recent comments from Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce hint that the star wide receiver might be staying put in Las Vegas after all.
Speaking with reporters after a Raiders practice session, Pierce had nothing but positive remarks about Adams, a surprising shift from the resignation he’d shown earlier when trade talks were heating up. Reports suggested that the Raiders were demanding a second-round pick for Adams, a hefty price considering he’s turning 32 and has one of the league’s highest salaries for a wide receiver. The cost may have caused interest from other teams, including the Jets and Saints, to cool.
The Raiders face the Pittsburgh Steelers this week, a team that was also speculated to have an interest in Adams. However, Adams’ participation is doubtful as he continues managing a hamstring injury. Although there’s still time before game day, it’s unclear if the Raiders will risk playing him.
Whether or not Adams stays with the Raiders, his health will be critical for both trade value and the team’s playoff hopes. For now, fans will have to wait and see if Pierce’s confidence signals Adams’ future in Vegas or just another twist in his NFL journey.
