For this farewell, Audi North America asked its fans to contribute to the creation of a tribute video, and the result is “Audi R8: The Last Lap”, which shows some of the R8 models, starting with the first generation produced in 2006 and equipped with a 4.2-liter V8 engine with 420 horsepower.
In addition, the video also features the first generation of the R8 GT (2012) equipped with a 5.2-liter V10 engine capable of delivering 560 horsepower.
Finally, two current versions of the Audi sports car: the R8 Performance quattro and the latest GT RWD, with rear-wheel drive. Both are equipped with a 5.2-liter V10 engine with 610 horsepower.
With this tribute, Audi has found a way to bid farewell to a model that has become an icon of the brand, which has not yet confirmed whether the R8 sports car will have a successor. If confirmed, it is more than likely to be a 100% electric model, as from 2033, all models produced by the Ingolstadt brand will be 100% electric.
