The number of car registrations in Portugal increased by 29.9% until October compared to the same period last year, with 195,781 new vehicles registered by the legal representatives of the brand operating in the national market.

According to data released by the Portuguese Automobile Association (ACAP) in October, 16,953 vehicles were registered, which is 13.1% more than the same month in 2022 and 11.5% less compared to October 2019.
By categories, in October, 13,863 new passenger cars were registered, which is 9.8% more than the same month in 2022. However, compared to October 2019, the market experienced a decrease of 11.7%.
Overall, from January to October 2023, the registrations of passenger cars totaled 167,219 units, resulting in a positive variation of 31.7% compared to the same period in 2022. Compared to the same period in 2019, the market experienced a decrease of 12.2%.
The market for light commercial vehicles also saw a positive development in the tenth month of 2023, with a 28.6% increase compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 2,416 registered units. However, compared to the same month in 2019, there was a decrease of 17.5%.
In cumulative terms, the market reached 22,612 units, representing an increase of 19.7% compared to the same period last year and a decrease of 27.4% compared to the period from January to October 2019.
As for the heavy vehicle market, which includes both passenger and commercial types, there was a 41.3% increase in October compared to the same month in 2022, with 674 vehicles of this category being sold. Compared to the same month in 2019, the market experienced a 29.1% increase.
Overall, in the first 10 months of 2023, registrations in this category totaled 5,950 units, representing a 22% market growth compared to the same period in 2022 and a 15.3% increase compared to the same period in 2019.
