Produced in and for North America, with the US and Canadian markets at the forefront, the CX-70 is built on Mazda’s large platform and features a range of engines composed of the 3.3-liter, six-cylinder e-Skyactiv G turbo engine with M-Hybrid Boost technology, and the 2.5-liter e-Skyactiv G PHEV engine, with power outputs of 284 and 345 hp for the 48-volt mild hybrid variant, and 328 hp and 500 Nm for the plug-in hybrid version. Mazda has not revealed details about the battery or the electric range of the plug-in version.
Aesthetically, the new CX-70 features Kodo design, presenting a natural and athletic stance with sporty and modern touches, and a distinctive look highlighted by the sculpted front section. Mazda emphasized its dynamic appearance with contrasting black details and 21-inch wheels with a black metallic/machined finish.
The interior is marked by premium finishes, with a focus on Nappa leather in wine color, with eco stitching inspired by the “100th Anniversary” Special Edition of the Mazda MX-5.
In addition, the remotely foldable rear seats facilitate loading operations in an optimized rear cargo area with storage compartments.
Equipped with a wide range of driving aids and driver assistance systems, the CX-70 introduces the Alexa platform to voice control functions such as changing temperature or radio station.
Mazda has announced that the new CX-70 will arrive in the US and Canadian markets in the Spring.
