Philipp Eng, a BMW driver, set the fastest time in the second practice session for the IMSA Detroit Sportscar Classic in tabloid format. Eng clocked a time of 1:06.348 aboard the BMW M Hybrid V8 #24, putting him at the top of the timing sheets. Nick Tandy, driving the Porsche #6, was only a tenth of a second behind Eng, while veteran Sebastien Bourdais, in the Cadillac V-Series.R #01, was 22 hundredths of a second off Tandy’s pace. The BMW #25, driven by Nick Yelloly, was the fourth fastest, trailing Eng by 0.134 seconds. Felipe Nasr, in the Porsche #5, finished fifth, and Ricky Taylor, in the Acura ARX-06 #10 from WTRAndretti, was the first of the Acuras in sixth place. In the GTD Pro category, Tommy Milner set the fastest time in the Corvette Z06 GT3.R #4, with a lap time of 1:09.654. The team’s second car, driven by Antonio Garcia, was over a second and a half slower than Milner. Seb Priaulx, in the Porsche 911 GT3.R #77 from AO Racing ‘Rexy’, was the third fastest, 0.62 seconds behind Garcia. Qualifying for the race will start at 4:40 pm local time.
