Ford continues to surprise off-road fans with radical versions of its electric models. This time, it introduced the F-150 Lightning Switchgear pickup truck, a demonstration model that looks more like the F-150 Raptor and follows in the footsteps of the well-known Mustang Mach-E 1400 and even the SuperVan.
This version developed by Ford Performance in partnership with Vaughn Gittin Jr and RTR Vehicles is based on the well-known F-150 Lightning, the best-selling 100% electric pickup truck in the US, and is equipped with two motors, one per axle, which deliver a total power of 580 hp, powered by a 131 kWh battery capacity of the «extended-range» version.
In order to reduce weight in this radical version of the electric pickup truck and to achieve better dynamics, Ford Performance replaced the body panels and side skirts with carbon fiber elements, along with redesigned bumpers to allow for better off-road entry and exit angles.
In addition, the American brand equipped this unique model with 3.0 Fox shocks with internal bypass, combined with a custom double-arm front suspension and independent multi-link with a stabilizer bar at the rear.
