The 2023 season of Formula 1 exceeded Fernando Alonso’s expectations. In his first year with Aston Martin, he achieved multiple podium finishes, finished fourth among the drivers, and saw the team finish fifth among the constructors. Now, the goal is to do even better.
The veteran emphasized, as quoted in RacingNews365.com, that these were just the first steps: ‘It will be important because obviously this is the first step, hopefully, towards good progress for the team. We always said it was like a year 1 for Aston Martin to be competitive, many changes in the team, the new factory, all these things we’ve been saying for a long time’.
Alonso highlighted that the goal is to do even better in 2024: ‘If we take a step back next year, it will be bad. We need to keep moving forward. We finished fifth in the Constructors’ Championship, we need to improve on that next year. Whether it’s fourth, third, second, or whatever, it will be welcome’.
