Detroit Lions center Frank Ragnow isn’t just tough – he’s a full-on gladiator in the NFL trenches. This guy’s battled injuries you wouldn’t believe, and somehow, he’s back with a vengeance. Over the last few seasons, this All-Pro machine has refused to stay down, even while nursing injuries that would sideline most players. Case in point? Last season, Ragnow was listed with multiple injuries, yet he barely missed two games. Just recently, in Week 3, he tore up his pectoral muscle – yeah, you read that right. Did he hang up his cleats for the season? Nah. He missed one game and geared up to return, with his coach practically begging him to take a beat.
But how did he prove he was ready? Oh, it was classic Ragnow style. According to head coach Dan Campbell, Ragnow didn’t just give a thumbs-up or nod to signal his comeback. Nope, he strolled right up to Campbell, punched him twice to prove his pec was back in action. “I’m just talking to our trainer, and then BAM, someone slams me into the wall,” Campbell shared. “Then I feel another punch, and it’s Frank, dead serious, showing off his healed pec. That’s his way of saying, ‘I’m ready.’” And who could argue with that? The guy’s a one-man wrecking crew, practically begging to get back in the game.
Since the Lions picked him up in 2018, Ragnow’s started 83 games, nabbed three Pro Bowl spots, and twice made the All-Pro team. Not to mention, he’s part of the top-ranked offensive line going into the season. Through Week 3, Pro Football Focus gave him a killer 71.8 grade, just one more stat proving he’s the heart and soul of this Detroit line.
Sure, the Lions held it down without him, even putting up 42 points on Seattle. But Ragnow’s return is a game-changer. Having him back stabilizes the offensive line and lets the Lions keep building momentum with Jared Goff and their explosive ground game. Every big play, every snap, the guy’s in there powering up the team. And with Ragnow back, the Lions are dead serious about a Super Bowl run.
