Ferrari driver Antonio Fuoco once again led in the free practice sessions for the FIA World Endurance Championship 6 Hours of Imola. Fuoco set a time of 1:31.238, edging out Dries Vanthoor in the BMW M Hybrid V8 by just 0.034 seconds. Rene Rast secured third place for BMW, less than three tenths behind his teammate. Robert Shwartzman, in the AF Corse Ferrari, finished fourth, while Matt Campbell claimed fifth in the first of the Porsches. The other Ferrari, #51, finished sixth, with Brendon Hartley and Callum Ilott in seventh and eighth, respectively. Marco Sorensen set the fastest time in the LMGT3 class, followed by Daniel Manichelli and Augusto Farfus. Joel Sturm and Marino Sato rounded out the top five in the GT3 category. Towards the end of the session, Paul Di Resta had a moment at Rivazza, causing a red flag to retrieve his Peugeot. However, the incident occurred just before the end of the session.
