The New York Giants’ 2024 season is hitting rock bottom. After a Week 10 defeat to the Carolina Panthers, the Giants sit at 2-8, tied with the Jacksonville Jaguars for the league’s worst record. With an offense that has yet to find its rhythm, quarterback Daniel Jones has faced harsh scrutiny. His performance—2,070 passing yards, eight touchdowns, and seven interceptions—has not been enough to spark any significant success.
Following the Panthers’ loss, the Giants find themselves in prime position for the top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. ESPN’s Adam Schefter hinted on The Pat McAfee Show that major changes could be on the horizon: “If the draft were today, the Giants would have the number one overall pick. I don’t know that anybody can say anybody is safe in New York…anything is possible.”
With a potential first overall pick, the Giants could be eyeing top talent, such as Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders or Travis Hunter, among other high-profile prospects. Given Jones’ struggles and his substantial $160 million contract, the Giants may be inclined to pursue a fresh start at the quarterback position, though Head Coach Brian Daboll has so far refused to bench Jones.
Daboll, in his third season with the Giants, led the team to a playoff berth with a 9-7 record in his first year. However, last season’s 6-11 record and the potential for another double-digit loss season have cast doubt on his future with the franchise.
As the Giants approach their bye week, followed by games against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving, the front office faces critical decisions. A top draft pick offers hope, but for a fanbase eager for change, it may not be enough. The future of Jones, Daboll, and even the franchise’s core could hinge on the next few weeks and their draft position.
