Lewis Hamilton believes that the second half of the Formula 1 season will be extremely exciting, as numerous teams have the potential to compete for victories. In the first 14 rounds of the season, seven drivers from four different teams have emerged victorious. Sergio Perez is the only driver from Red Bull, McLaren, Ferrari, and Mercedes who has yet to win a race. Hamilton, who has won two of the last three races, expressed his enthusiasm for the close competition among teams and drivers. He acknowledged that Mercedes did not anticipate being able to challenge McLaren and Red Bull at this stage of the season, but their progress has set the stage for an intense second half of the season.
Hamilton attributed Mercedes’ improvement to advancements that have increased his and teammate George Russell’s confidence in all types of corners. The car’s overall performance has improved, with a better balance in low, medium, and high-speed corners. Russell, despite having his victory in Belgium overturned due to a technical infringement, shares Hamilton’s optimism for the remainder of the year. He believes that the upcoming races will lay the foundation for multiple teams to contend for the championship in 2025. Russell emphasized the motivation and excitement among all teams, including McLaren and Ferrari, to regain their competitive edge. He expects fierce competition in the coming years and anticipates an intense battle for the championship in the future.
