Sergio Perez’s future at Red Bull has been a topic of uncertainty, despite being given an opportunity to prove himself until the end of the season. The Red Bull Technical Advisor has provided some important insights regarding Perez’s inconsistent performance in 2024. Over the past seven races, Perez has only managed to accumulate 24 points, which has raised criticism about his contract extension with the team.
As a result, Perez has been given an ultimatum to demonstrate his abilities, as failure to do so could result in his departure before the next season. Despite the criticism, Helmut Marko, the Red Bull Technical Advisor, has shown support for Perez, emphasizing the need for him to be more consistent in the remaining races of the year. Marko believes that Perez, with his on-track capabilities, remains the best option for the team based in Milton-Keynes. Therefore, Perez’s performance after the summer break will play a crucial role in determining his position on the grid for 2025.
In addition to Perez’s situation, Max Verstappen, a three-time world champion, has discussed the challenges faced by Red Bull this season. While Verstappen is leading the title race, he has encountered difficulties with the RB20 car on multiple occasions. Verstappen has consistently put in efforts to maximize results for himself and the team, but he acknowledges that the RB20 has not been competitive against the top teams throughout the season. McLaren, Mercedes, and Ferrari have frequently outperformed the RB20. As the season progresses, Red Bull will strive to maintain their lead and aim for strong performances on the track following the summer break.
