The boss of the Red Bull Racing team, Christian Horner, recently shared his thoughts on Toto Wolff’s claim that Max Verstappen has already secured the 2024 Formula 1 title. Horner stated that he has learned not to pay too much attention to Wolff’s comments. Verstappen, who had a retirement in Australia, bounced back with a dominant performance in Japan, leading his teammate Sergio Perez to a Red Bull one-two finish. Red Bull also extended their lead over Ferrari in the Constructors’ Championship. Verstappen currently holds a 13-point advantage over Perez in the drivers’ standings. Wolff had commented that Verstappen’s gap to the nearest non-Red Bull driver showed his dominance this season. However, Horner believes it is still too early to make such claims, as there are still 20 races to go. He also took the opportunity to take a dig at Wolff, stating that he doesn’t pay much attention to what he says. Despite doubts about Red Bull’s long-run pace, Verstappen and Perez managed to convert their front row start into a successful race. Horner expressed his satisfaction with the speed of Red Bull and their ability to avoid getting caught up in strategic games. He also mentioned that a change in track temperature may have played a role in their success. Wolff clarified that Mercedes will not give up on the current regulations and believes their best chance of catching Red Bull will come with the introduction of new rules.
