A chilling emergency call has revealed the tragic death of a 19-year-old girl who became trapped in a walk-in oven at a Walmart bakery in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The young worker, believed to have moved to Canada within the past three years, became trapped on Saturday night, sparking a desperate dispatch for help.
The dispatcher described the horror to first responders, stating, “Oven is on. Unsure if staff are able to turn it off.” Despite efforts, by the time emergency services arrived, the girl had tragically died.
Members of the Maritime Sikh Society, with which she was closely linked, expressed their grief, stating, “She came for a better future and lost her life.” Halifax police have described the investigation as complex, with the Medical Examiner’s Office set to determine the official cause of death. Walmart Canada extended condolences and is offering grief counseling to staff.
