The Houston Texans celebrated their sixth win of the season against the Colts, but victory came at a cost. Star wide receiver Stefon Diggs left the game in the third quarter after a non-contact injury saw his knee buckle, sending him to the sidelines in clear agony. Diggs, who had racked up five catches for 81 yards, didn’t return for the fourth quarter, leaving Texans fans and coaches anxious about his future availability.
NFL Insider Ian Rapoport reported that Diggs’ knee injury “doesn’t look good,” casting doubt on when he’ll be back on the field. The Texans have not yet set a timetable for his recovery, leaving fans on edge and hoping the damage isn’t as severe as it looks.
The injury occurred late in the third quarter as QB C.J. Stroud connected with RB Joe Mixon on a short pass. Diggs tried to pivot, but his knee appeared to give way, and he went down, clutching it in pain. Following the game, Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans addressed the issue, saying, “Unfortunate to see Stef go down there. He’s being evaluated for a knee. We’ll find out further information as the week goes on.”
The Texans are already grappling with the absence of another key receiver, Nico Collins, who led the NFL with 567 receiving yards before being sidelined with a hamstring injury in Week 5. Now, with Diggs potentially out, Houston’s depth at wide receiver is in serious jeopardy.
WR Tank Dell may need to step up in their absence, and he showed some promise on Sunday with four catches for 35 yards and a touchdown. However, without both Diggs and Collins, the Texans will need to rely heavily on their depth to maintain their winning momentum.
With no clear return date for Diggs or Collins, the Texans’ offense could face a challenging few weeks as they work to stay competitive in a tight AFC race.
