It seems sculpted by the wind, but it is inspired by the seas, more precisely by a tuna, to become the most aerodynamic car in the world today. Designed using Artificial Intelligence, the new prototype from Chinese company Chery achieves a coefficient of aerodynamic drag of 0.168, surpassing the previous record of the Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX (cd of 0.17).
For this result, engineers relied on the bionic design of the mentioned fish, specifically on the dorsal fin it uses to gain speed when moving. Based on the observation of marine animals and thousands of simulations following parameters described by Artificial Intelligence, the concept surpassed the best references tested in the wind tunnel.
In addition to the highly aerodynamic shape, other details were decisive, such as the total absence of door handles, which open with a simple touch on a fingerprint sensor.
