In a major blow to the Islamic State, Iraqi-led strikes and raids killed at least seven ISIS operatives, U.S. Central Command (Centcom) announced on Wednesday. The operations targeted key ISIS figures, including senior leaders, just one day after Iraq reported the death of the militant group’s commander in Iraq during a military strike in the Hamrin Mountains.
The U.S. provided critical intelligence and technical support through the Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR). Two U.S. military personnel were wounded but are in stable condition. As the U.S. transitions its military role in Iraq, these joint efforts continue to strike at the heart of ISIS leadership.
