The Oscar-nominated actress is currently in negotiations to join Ortega in Waititi’s adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro’s New York Times bestseller. The film will be produced by Heyday Films’ David Heyman, Garrett Basch, and Waititi. Ishiguro himself will also serve as an executive producer.
Klara and the Sun follows the story of Klara, an Artificial Friend designed to combat loneliness. Klara is purchased by a mother and her teenage daughter named Josie, who is suffering from an undisclosed illness. The film explores Klara’s journey to save Josie and those who care for her, while also discovering the power of human love.
Amy Adams is widely recognized for her roles in Catch Me If You Can, The Fighter, and Man of Steel. Her outstanding performances have earned her multiple Oscar nominations throughout her career.
Taika Waititi, known for his acclaimed films such as Jojo Rabbit and Thor: Ragnarok, will be directing Klara and the Sun. His most recent film, Next Goal Wins, was released in November.
