Kawhi Leonard’s knees are back in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons, and Kendrick Perkins isn’t holding back. With Leonard sidelined again due to right knee inflammation ahead of the 2024-25 NBA season, Perkins has jumped in on ESPN with some blunt advice for the Clippers star: “It’s time to consider retirement.”
Perk’s concerns aren’t coming out of nowhere. Leonard, once known as one of the best two-way players in the league, has been battling injuries for years. From the torn ACL in 2021 to the meniscus tear in 2023, and now this latest setback, it’s been one long injury report. Perkins warned that continuing this cycle could have long-term consequences not just for Leonard’s career, but for his health. He’s missed 164 games in four seasons!
Despite being a 2x Finals MVP, Kawhi’s career has been haunted by his body’s refusal to cooperate. As the Clippers get ready to kick off the new season, their franchise player is stuck on the bench, and the fans may be left asking themselves: Is this the end for ‘The Klaw’?
Perk seems to think it should be.
