Ayao Komatsu, the team principal of Haas F1, has confirmed that they are considering Esteban Ocon as a potential driver for the 2025 Formula 1 season. Ocon recently announced that he will not be renewing his partnership with Alpine, making him available in the driver market. Haas will have a vacant seat for the 2025 season, as Nico Hulkenberg is set to move to Sauber. Ocon had spoken with Haas prior to his departure from Alpine, as he was seeking to secure his future in the sport. Komatsu stated that Ocon’s experience, including one victory and three podiums in 142 starts, makes him a strong candidate for Haas. He also praised Ocon’s work ethic and commitment. Komatsu is currently working with team owner Gene Haas to determine the team’s driver lineup for the upcoming season. This will be the first time he will be making such decisions since taking over from Guenther Steiner. Komatsu intends to combine an established name with young talent to help Haas progress as the smallest team in F1. Oliver Bearman, who made his F1 debut with Ferrari this year, is considered one of the top candidates for the second seat at Haas. Bearman, who is affiliated with Ferrari, has already participated in three practice sessions with Haas and is scheduled for five more in 2024. Komatsu confirmed that they are evaluating Bearman’s potential for a full-time racing seat with Haas next season.
