Charles Leclerc, driver of the Ferrari SF-24 team, emphasized the need for improvements in low-speed corners for the team’s Formula 1 car in 2024. Ferrari’s decision to revamp the concept of their car this season has been successful, making them the main competitors to Red Bull. However, the team has been struggling with single lap heating, affecting their starting position and allowing McLaren to overtake them in Shanghai. Leclerc was surprised to find out he was losing half a second per lap to Lando Norris on the hard compound. Looking ahead to the next race in Miami, Leclerc suspects Ferrari may face similar challenges, especially with McLaren introducing new parts. He believes that upgrades will be crucial for the remainder of the season. Ferrari has made minor developments in the races at Suzuka and Shanghai, but their main upgrade package will debut in Imola next month. Leclerc acknowledges that the team’s engineers are aware of their weakness in low-speed corners and will focus on solving this issue.
