The progress of Mercedes throughout this Formula 1 season has been clear. With a new floor, at the United States Grand Prix, victory was closer than ever on the track, but even so Lewis Hamilton had no arguments against Max Verstappen – whose Red Bull even had some problems in the main race.
Although the technical director of the German team, James Allison, says that the new floor is already an indicator for 2024, Hamilton is cautious about the chances of catching up to Red Bull. The British driver said, quoted on grandprix.com:
– I don’t really know if it means anything for next year. They [Red Bull] will be progressing at a rapid pace since they have a fantastic development team. That means we have to have an even more rapid pace to be able to close the gap.
