The Orlando Magic are on a rollercoaster ride this season. After a strong start, they found themselves competing with the best teams in the league and even had the second-best record in the Eastern Conference. They managed to defeat some championship contenders along the way. However, they have hit a wall recently, struggling to maintain their momentum. Injuries and a lack of experience seem to be the culprits behind their inconsistent performance.
To turn things around and make a push for the playoffs, the Magic are looking to add an experienced veteran to their roster. According to Matt Moore of the Action Network, they have expressed interest in both Chris Paul and Kyle Lowry. Paul, who has been dealing with an injured hand, has been a trade candidate for most of the season. On the other hand, Lowry was recently traded to the Charlotte Hornets but is expected to be traded again or become a buyout candidate.
The Magic already have a crowded backcourt with players like Jalen Suggs, Cole Anthony, Markelle Fultz, and Gary Harris. Paolo Banchero has also been given playmaking responsibilities from time to time. Despite this, a veteran point guard could be the missing piece that propels this promising team to legitimate contention. It remains to be seen how aggressive the Magic will be in pursuing a trade and what they are willing to give up to acquire the help they need.
