Jorge Martin established a new MotoGP lap record during the second practice session for the Grand Prix of the Americas at the Circuit of the Americas. The Pramac rider achieved an impressive time of 2:01.397s, putting him well ahead of the rest of the pack. Maverick Vinales also had a strong performance, finishing in second place, while Aleix Espargaro secured a spot in Q2. Miguel Oliveira and Raul Fernandez of Trackhouse Aprilia failed to qualify, but their positions outside the top 10 are promising for the team’s home race. Enea Bastianini comfortably passed in fourth place, while Francesco Bagnaia needed a final effort to move up to eighth place. Pedro Acosta emerged as the top GasGas team rider in the KTM camp, but both KTM riders and his teammate will have to work hard in tomorrow’s qualifying session. Brad Binder finished in 14th place, followed by Jack Miller in 16th, with Acosta’s teammate, Augusto Fernandez, between them in 15th. Franco Morbidelli had a strong weekend so far, finishing in seventh place, while Fabio Di Gianantonio and Marco Bezzecchi of VR46 Ducati completed the top 10. The Marquez brothers had mixed results, with Marc finishing in third place, but Alex failing to qualify for Q2. The last six positions in the practice time tables were occupied by struggling Japanese manufacturers, with Yamaha riders ahead of both LCR and factory Honda. Johann Zarco was the highest-placed Honda rider, followed by Joan Mir and Luca Marini from the factory team, and Takaaki Nakagami from LCR.
