McDonald’s has taken a unique approach to promote their classic burgers in their latest campaign. Instead of using aggressive marketing tactics, they have subtly customized a 1970 Plymouth Barracuda for their mascot, the Hamburglar. The car, named “Burgercuda,” has been tastefully modified by Sean Smith Designs to match the Hamburglar’s iconic black-and-white striped outfit.
Known for their exceptional work on classic American cars, Sean Smith Designs collaborated with Fusion Motor Company and Sew Cal Rods & Upholstery to create this eye-catching muscle car. The Burgercuda features a red, white, and black color scheme, with hubcaps designed to resemble sesame seed buns and a spare tire that looks like a giant cheeseburger. The front grille proudly displays the McDonald’s logo in an old-school font, while the hood scoop is marked with “Robble” and the license plate reads “RBL RBL” in red letters.
Inside, the interior of the Burgercuda is just as impressive. The black and white stripes on the seats are reminiscent of the Hamburglar’s prison uniform. However, the most notable modification is the burger warmer hidden in the center console. The customized shifter is flanked by a burger holder and a cupholder, and the steering wheel is embossed with the McDonald’s Arch logo.
While technical details have not been disclosed for this one-of-a-kind car, it is worth mentioning that the 1970 Plymouth Barracuda was available with various engine options, including the powerful 440-cubic-inch and 426-cubic-inch Hemi V8s.
To engage with fans, McDonald’s has included a QR code on the rear quarter panel of the Burgercuda. By scanning the code, lucky individuals have a chance to win Hamburglar-themed merchandise or free burgers. This unique approach to advertising showcases McDonald’s commitment to creativity and innovation in their marketing campaigns.
