Formula E driver Jake Hughes has confirmed his departure from the NEOM McLaren team, putting an end to recent speculation about his future in the sport. Hughes, who finished 14th in the Drivers’ Championship in Season 10, will be joining Maserati MSG Racing as part of their new lineup.
The announcement from Maserati is expected later today. In response to Hughes’ departure, McLaren will be offering the vacancy to their reserve driver, Taylor Barnard, who has already impressed in previous races.
Hughes expressed his gratitude to the NEOM McLaren team, stating that they have played a crucial role in his development as a racing driver. McLaren’s Team Principal, Ian James, also praised Hughes for his contributions both on and off the track, highlighting his pole positions and podium finish in Shanghai this year.
