Lando Norris, a driver for McLaren, has expressed his opinion on the future of his former teammate Carlos Sainz in Formula 1. Norris believes that Sainz should have been signed by Red Bull Racing instead of Williams. Despite Sainz ultimately joining Williams, Norris feels that Red Bull overlooked the talented Spaniard. Norris describes Sainz as one of the best drivers in Formula 1 and believes he deserves a spot at Red Bull.
However, Norris does acknowledge that Sainz’s move to Williams could be beneficial for both him and the team, as they work together to improve their standings. Norris also mentions that Sergio Perez’s contract extension at Red Bull could potentially impact their position in the Constructors’ standings if Perez does not perform well.
McLaren CEO Zak Brown acknowledges the challenges Red Bull faces with their two teams and driver programs, but expresses relief that he does not have to deal with similar driver challenges.
