Lando Norris recently signed a contract extension with McLaren in the world of Formula 1. Despite the news of Lewis Hamilton’s departure from Mercedes, Norris stated that he has no regrets about his decision to commit to McLaren. Speculation surrounding the F1 driver market began even before the start of the season, when it was revealed that Hamilton would go to Ferrari in 2025. Toto Wolff, the head of Mercedes, expressed his disappointment with the timing of the announcement, suggesting that Norris and Charles Leclerc could have been potential options for the team. McLaren CEO Zak Brown confirmed that Norris had already agreed to a new deal before the news leaked, but Norris himself believes he could have postponed his decision. However, Norris is satisfied with his choice to stay with McLaren in the long term, as he has been associated with the team since 2017. He stated, “I am very happy. I could have waited, but I knew what opportunities were available to me and I do not regret my decision.” Norris was also considered as a possible replacement for Sergio Perez at Red Bull, but McLaren’s impressive performance in the last season renewed his confidence in the team’s ability to compete for wins and championships. With the addition of a new wind tunnel and technical hirings from Ferrari and Red Bull, McLaren is determined to build on its success in the previous campaign. Norris expressed his confidence in the team and his satisfaction with his current position. While acknowledging that there is room for improvement, he values the enjoyment he finds in working with his teammates and believes that this is an important aspect of the team’s growth. He concluded, “Everyone has the potential to become the best team in Formula 1, and I am very happy to be a part of it.”
