The golf world is always filled with excitement, isn’t it? The ongoing Round 3 of the 2024 Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield Country Club has been nothing short of thrilling. Luke Clanton is currently ranked among the top 3, with a remarkable score of 12 under par in the T3 position. However, the question remains: can he secure victory in this crucial tournament? It seems unlikely.
Initially, Clanton was expected to complete this tournament on Sunday, as per the usual schedule, and then participate in the U.S. Amateur the following day. Unfortunately, due to the PGA Tour’s risky plans, this may no longer be possible. While it is still possible for him to tee off in the latter event, it will undoubtedly be a challenge for him, considering the demanding schedule.
To avoid a Monday finish, golfers will be playing 39 holes on Sunday. This further complicates Clanton’s situation, as he has another tournament to play the next day. If he enters a playoff, it could potentially extend into Monday. Fortunately, his tee time for the U.S. Amateur is scheduled for 2:09 p.m. CDT, giving him some respite.
