The Porsche denied any lack of support or undermining of its Formula E driver, Antonio Felix da Costa, after a surprise evaluation test with Nico Mueller from Abt Cupra. Da Costa had a difficult start to the season with three non-scoring races, but has since improved with a sixth and a fourth place. However, he has been struggling in qualifying and is currently behind his teammate Pascal Wehrlein in the championship. Florian Modlinger, Porsche’s factory motorsport director for Formula E, stated that they are working to improve da Costa’s performance and that he has full support from the team. Modlinger also mentioned that testing other drivers during the season is a normal process to evaluate potential future drivers. Despite Modlinger’s arrival at Porsche, it is believed that da Costa had already agreed to sign with the team before his arrival. Modlinger emphasized that his goal is to have the best drivers, team, and car to succeed in Formula E.
