The renewed Porsche Taycan will be revealed soon, but the Stuttgart brand has already announced that the model will have a range of up to 587 kilometers.
With its market arrival scheduled for next spring, the renewed 100% electric sedan has been undergoing various dynamic tests for several months. However, the pre-series units have now been put to the test in terms of range between Los Angeles and San Diego, where the prototypes demonstrated their improved efficiency by traveling up to 587 kilometers with one charge on public roads.
“For the particularly efficient Taycan sports sedan with the larger battery, this final test resulted in a total range of 587 kilometers,” said Kevin Giek, vice president of the model line. “A great result. The range test in Southern California impressively demonstrated the efficiency of the Taycan’s restyling. We continue to focus on our ‘fast travel’ strategy for electric mobility: shorter charging stops combined with high real ranges thanks to efficient driving,” he concluded.
It should be noted that Porsche has already covered more than 3.6 million kilometers in tests with the renewed Taycan, 300,000 of which were carried out in cold conditions and 200,000 in hotter locations, where the driving dynamics on snow and ice were evaluated, as well as the charging capacity, which was reduced to almost half at colder temperatures. The battery charging system and thermal management system reliability were also tested under high temperatures.
In the range tests, Porsche also announced that the Taycan “demonstrated a charging power of over 300 kW for several minutes and was able to charge from 10% to 80% on several occasions in less than 20 minutes”.
