Oliver Rowland, the prominent Nissan driver, will not participate in the upcoming Portland E-Prix due to his unfortunate health condition. This news was officially confirmed by his team on Friday. The English driver will be replaced by Caio Collet, who serves as the team’s reserve and simulator driver. Collet, a talented 22-year-old Brazilian, currently holds a respectable third position in the Indy NXT championship driver standings. Additionally, he achieved a ninth place finish in last year’s Formula Three campaign.
As a result of this setback, Rowland’s chances of competing for the championship title in the FIA Formula E standings have significantly decreased. Despite his notable performance throughout Season 10, which included multiple podium finishes and a victory in Misano, the British driver now finds himself at a disadvantage. This week, his hopes were further frustrated when Antonio Felix da Costa’s appeal was rejected. However, there is optimism that Rowland will quickly recover and make a triumphant return for the season finale, with the London E-Prix being held as a double-header in July.
