In a shocking turn of events, Russian Air Force Commander Col Dmitry Golenkov, blamed for the deadly bombing of a Ukrainian shopping mall, has been found brutally murdered in Russia’s Bryansk region. The senior officer, infamous for ordering airstrikes that killed scores of Ukrainian civilians, was bludgeoned to death with what Ukraine’s military intelligence chillingly described as a “hammer of justice.”
Golenkov, who played a key role in Russia’s missile strikes, was responsible for the devastating June 2022 attack on the Amstor shopping mall in Kremenchuk, which killed at least 14 civilians and left many others injured. He was also tied to a January 2023 bombing raid in Dnipro that claimed 46 lives. Both strikes have been condemned worldwide as acts of terror.
The Russian commander’s body was discovered face-down in a shrubland near the village of Suponevo, his head bloodied and beaten. Ukraine’s military intelligence confirmed the elimination, stating, “He was involved in missile strikes on Ukrainian civilian targets.”
Footage from the mall attack showed the horrifying moment when a Russian AS-4 “Kitchen” guided missile—originally designed for use against American aircraft carriers—hit the crowded shopping center, igniting a massive fireball. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called the strike “one of the most brazen terrorist acts in European history.”
With Golenkov’s violent demise, the war’s consequences continue to reach new and terrifying levels. As Ukraine vows to hold those responsible accountable, tensions between the two nations escalate, raising questions about who could be next in this deadly war of retribution.
