Scottie Scheffler secured a substantial $8 million bonus for his victory in the Comcast Business Tour Top 10, which concluded the 2024 PGA Tour’s FedExCup regular season at the Wyndham Championship. This amount exceeds the earnings of all but seven PGA Tour players in 2024.
As the number one ranked player in the world, Scheffler accomplished a feat not seen since Tiger Woods by winning six times on the PGA Tour before July. Each of these wins came with significant prize money. Scheffler triumphed in four of the PGA Tour’s prestigious Signature Events (Arnold Palmer Invitational, RBC Heritage, the Memorial, Travelers Championship), claimed victory in the Players Championship with the largest purse on Tour, and secured a major title at the Masters.
Expressing his gratitude, Scheffler stated, “It has been an extraordinary year for me both on and off the course, so to conclude the regular season by earning the top spot in the Comcast Business Tour Top 10 is a great honor. Every year, I strive to perform and compete to the best of my abilities, and this award truly represents the hard work put in throughout the season with the unwavering support of my family and team.” In 2024, Scheffler amassed $28,248,691 (pre-bonus), which is approximately $13 million more than Xander Schauffele, a player who has won multiple major championships. Only seven golfers, including Scheffler, Schauffele, Rory McIlroy, Wyndham Clark, Sahith Theegala, Ludvig Aberg, and Collin Morikawa, have earned over $8 million on the PGA Tour this year.
The Comcast Business prize allocates $40 million among the top-10 players in the FedExCup standings at the end of the regular season. Schauffele received a $6 million bonus, while McIlroy took home $4.8 million for finishing in third place. The PGA Tour’s postseason will commence on Thursday with the FedEx St. Jude Invitational at TPC Southwind in Memphis.
“Eileen Diskin, the chief marketing officer at Comcast Business, praised Scottie Scheffler’s exceptional season, which included consecutive victories at THE PLAYERS Championship and winning the Comcast Business Tour Top 10,” she said.
During the spring, Scheffler, widely regarded as the best ball-striker in the world, achieved a historic winning streak, triumphing in four out of five tournaments. The only exception was a second-place finish at the Texas Children’s Houston Open, where his putt to force a playoff narrowly missed. Scheffler quickly recovered by winning the Masters and then secured another victory at the RBC Heritage, albeit arriving late to the tournament.Off the course, Scheffler’s 2024 has been eventful. The 27-year-old was arrested before the second round of the PGA Championship at Valhalla, but the case was later dropped by the Louisville Metro Police Department. Despite the ordeal, Scheffler managed to shoot a remarkable 66 after his time in jail.
In May, Scottie and his wife, Meredith, joyfully welcomed their first child into the world. To cap off an already extraordinary year, Scheffler drew inspiration from athletes like Simone Biles and Suni Lee, as well as table tennis and the Louvre, leading him to stage a remarkable comeback and secure a gold medal for Team USA at the Paris Olympics. Scheffler’s first-place finish at Le Golf National earned him a cash prize of $37,500.
