Sergio Perez is facing a difficult time driving the RB20 car for Red Bull Racing. The Mexican driver’s performance in the Austrian Grand Prix was disappointing as he failed to secure a position on the front row. This resulted in Perez dropping to fifth place in the championship standings, with a total of 117 points after 11 races this season.
Despite a strong start to the season, Perez has been facing difficulties in recent races. Although he achieved four podium finishes in the first five races, he has failed to secure a position on the front row since then. During the race at the Red Bull Ring, Perez suffered significant damage to one of the side pods of his RB20 due to a collision with the McLaren car. This incident greatly affected his performance, and he ended up finishing in seventh place, only managing to improve one position from his starting position.
Reflecting on the race, Perez has been contemplating how things could have been different if the damage had not occurred in the early stages. However, he remains determined to give his best in the next race at Silverstone, hoping to make a return to the top positions.
Meanwhile, Max Verstappen, Perez’s teammate, had a more successful race in Austria. Despite facing an inexplicable issue with the RB20 after his final pit stop, Verstappen managed to secure a fifth place. He led the majority of the race and showed no signs of problems with the car during the qualifying sessions.
Taking into consideration all the discussed factors, Verstappen will approach the next race at Silverstone with the aim of returning to his winning form. It has been several races since the six-time Grand Prix winner was seen competing at the front of the grid.
