Stellantis has announced that it has just surpassed the milestone of 302,000 replacements of Takata airbags in the C3 and DS 3 models (produced between 2009 and 2019) covered by the “stop drive” campaign in France, Italy, Spain, and Portugal, with an additional 113,000 units expected to be replaced soon, bringing the total to 415,000 vehicles affected.
Since the launch of this “stop drive” campaign, Stellantis has spared no effort, innovating in various ways to manage such a large-scale project.
Stellantis clarified that these efforts “include the implementation of programs such as ‘home repair’ and ‘factory repair’ (when applicable), the mobilization of courtesy vehicles, partnerships with companies to expand the availability of courtesy vehicles, intensive work with the courtesy dealership network across Europe to increase replacement capacity, and the ongoing increase in the supply of replacement airbags”.
It is worth noting that all owners of vehicles affected by this Takata airbag recall have received physical letters and repeated follow-up messages from Citroën/DS Automobiles, with clear instructions on how to proceed with the necessary airbag replacements.
In Portugal, the campaign covers about 15,000 vehicles in circulation – produced between 2009 and 2017.
