Stellantis announced this Monday that its entire range of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles is fully compatible with Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) diesel, an eco-friendly alternative to traditional diesel.
This new biofuel is derived from renewable raw materials, such as used vegetable oils, animal fats, and waste cooking oils, unlike traditional diesel, which is petroleum-based. The hydrogenation process used to produce HVO generates a cleaner fuel, free of sulfur, with low levels of aromatic and pollutant compounds, making it an environmentally friendly and sustainable option.
This “Green Diesel” is also validated for use in many existing Stellantis vehicles equipped with Euro 5 and Euro 6 engines identified with “XTL” at their respective filling nozzles.
Additionally, certain non-XTL Euro 6 diesel vehicles are compatible with HVO diesel when equipped with one of the following engines: 1.3 MultiJet, 1.6 MultiJet, MultiJet, 2.2 MultiJet, new 2.2 MultiJet 4.0, 3.0 V6 MultiJet, and 2.3 MultiJet (F1A-Fiat Ducato).
