Stellantis will proceed with the production of electric cars in Mangualde this year, advancing the operation compared to previous estimates pointing to 2025, stated today the CEO of the automotive group, Carlos Tavares.
According to “RTP”, in a meeting with journalists in Porto, the CEO mentioned that the Mangualde unit had a “record production” year in 2023, with 84 thousand vehicles, working for various brands such as Opel, Fiat, Peugeot, and Citroën.
In addition, he indicated that in 2024, they will “start manufacturing electric vehicles in Mangualde”. When asked about the group’s willingness to participate in consolidation movements, Carlos Tavares said yes. “We are prepared for there to be an opportunity, and when it arises, we have to have financial capacity,” he emphasized.
The CEO of Stellantis warned about the dangers related to the prices of electric cars and the lack of mobility alternatives for the middle class.
