The NASCAR community was taken aback when it was declared that the championship-winning organization Stewart Haas Racing would terminate its operations at the conclusion of the 2024 season. Tony Stewart and co-owner Gene Haas were prepared to permanently depart from NASCAR due to financial difficulties.
However, subsequent to a couple of weeks following the SHR proclamation, Tony Stewart announced that he would enter cars under the Haas Factory Team brand starting from the upcoming season. He intends to achieve this by maintaining one of the SHR charters. Now, Tony Stewart has disclosed the person who persuaded Haas to continue participating in NASCAR.
He affirmed that Haas’s intimate friend, business partner, and founding member of SHR played a crucial role in convincing the millionaire to remain in NASCAR. The experienced individual also steps forward to defend the team’s decision to recruit Joe’s son as their driver for 2025, asserting that the defending Xfinity champion is deserving of the position.
The NASCAR-IndyCar champion is currently in his debut NHRA top-tier season. He has taken over the position from his pregnant wife and has been performing well. The support and guidance he receives from Leah contribute to his growth as a competitive racer.
With the responsibility of SHR lifted from his shoulders, Tony Stewart can now devote the majority of his time to his drag racing endeavors and raising his son. It may be for the best that he chose to conclude his tenure as a team owner in NASCAR.
