A Toyota Gazoo Racing, in the anticipation of new seasons in both the World Rally Championship and the World Endurance Championship, has released the first images of the machines with which it intends to defend the collective and individual titles in the WRC and WEC. The most relevant novelty in the design, both of the GR Yaris Rally 1 and the GR 010 Hybrid, is the adoption of black instead of white as the dominant color!
According to the sports structure of the Japanese manufacturer, the matte black selected for 2024 is inspired by the concepts of “prototype” and “speed,” which inspire all activities of Gazoo Racing, and express the “hatred for defeat” and the “desire to manufacture increasingly better cars.”
Toyota, as a manufacturer, imposed itself in the WEC in 2014, 2018-19, 2019-20, 2021, 2022, and 2023; and dominated the WRC in 1990, 1992, 1999, 2018, 2021, and 2023 – titles to which it adds victories in many driver championships. In 2024, the GR Yaris Rally 1 will make its competition debut confirmed for the Monte Carlo Rally on January 25, with two-time world champion Kalle Rovanpera competing at half throttle in order to recover from four exhausting seasons (as explained by this 23-year-old Finn). The endurance championship starts only on March 2, with the GR 010 Hybrid participating in the 1812 km of Qatar.
The black color will also be adopted in other competitions integrated into the Toyota Gazoo Racing program for 2024.
