In a bold declaration from Kyiv, U.S. Undersecretary of State Uzra Zeya vowed America’s unwavering support for Ukraine, stating that providing the war-torn country with the tools to prevail against Russia is a “top priority” for the United States. Zeya, who oversees civilian security, democracy, and human rights, made it clear that the U.S. will not only help Ukraine militarily but also empower its citizens to seek justice.
Speaking to RFE/RL on October 18, Zeya emphasized U.S. efforts to assist Ukrainian survivors in pursuing compensation from Russia for the destruction caused by the invasion. “We are preparing tools for survivors to pursue justice and hold Russia accountable,” she said, signaling a new phase of humanitarian and legal aid aimed at making sure those who have suffered the horrors of war can claim compensation.
Her visit underscores America’s firm stance alongside Ukraine as it continues to face Russian aggression. With Washington leading international efforts to impose sanctions and supply military aid, Zeya’s promise marks a turning point, where the focus is shifting towards long-term justice for war victims.
“We stand with Ukraine,” she concluded, reinforcing that U.S. support would remain “unstoppable” until Ukraine triumphs and Russia is held responsible for its actions.
