Red Bull and their star driver Max Verstappen had a good start to the year, achieving three one-two finishes with the help of Sergio Perez. However, unlike last year, they are not unbeatable, and Ferrari managed to beat them twice so far.
According to Editor Jad Mallak’s report, Red Bull has not made major mistakes. The RB20 car is performing exceptionally well, but Ferrari and McLaren have been able to close the gap in the last few races. As teams become more familiar with their packages, especially Ferrari and McLaren, the difference between them and Red Bull has decreased.
In anticipation of the Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix weekend, team principal Frederic Vasseur expressed optimism. He mentioned the excitement they had at the beginning of the season after Carlos’ victory in Australia and now have the same feeling after Charles’ triumph in Monaco, his home race.
Regarding the Canadian Grand Prix, Vasseur stated that everyone is excited and fully prepared. Although the Montreal track is different from Monaco, there are still some slow corners. However, it is generally faster, requires less aerodynamic downforce, and offers more overtaking opportunities.
Vasseur emphasized that his approach to the weekend will remain unchanged. They are progressing on the technical aspect, improving their pit wall strategy and enhancing teamwork. Thanks to their hard work, they have managed to reduce the gap to the leading teams in both championships. However, the margins between them, McLaren, and Red Bull are very close, and even the smallest detail can make a difference, according to Vasseur.
Comparing this year to the previous season, Ferrari has shown a significant improvement. After eight stages of last year’s constructors’ championship, they were in fourth place with 122 points. This year, they are in second place with more than double the points from last year. Additionally, Leclerc has accumulated more points at this stage than he and Sainz combined last year. Fred, the team principal, must be doing something right!
