Max Verstappen, the three-time Formula 1 world champion, will finally make his long-awaited debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July. This prestigious event, which takes place from July 11th to 14th, is known as one of the biggest celebrations of motorsport in the world. It will be the first time the current champion takes on the famous hill climb at the festival.
Verstappen won’t be alone in this exciting endeavor. He will be joined by his Red Bull Formula 1 teammate, Sergio Perez, as well as Red Bull CEO and team principal, Christian Horner. In addition, other notable Red Bull team drivers, including David Coulthard, Christian Klien, Daniel Ricciardo, and Mark Webber, will also be participating in the Goodwood Hillclimb.
The founder of the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Duke of Richmond, CBE DL, expressed enthusiasm for this historic moment. He stated, “In its 31-year history, this is the first time the Festival of Speed celebrates a Formula 1 team on this scale. Having the current drivers – not to mention the current world champion – the CEO and team principal, along with so many team icons, is fantastic.”
In addition to the impressive roster of drivers, the Red Bull celebration at Goodwood will also feature the debut of the RB17 Hypercar, designed by Adrian Newey. However, during the festival, Verstappen and his fellow Formula 1 drivers will be showcasing the iconic Formula 1 machines that have made Red Bull a force to be reckoned with in the sport.
Verstappen will take the wheel of his championship-winning RB16B from 2021, while Perez will pilot last year’s RB19, which holds the record for the most successful Formula 1 car in history, winning 21 out of 22 races last year. Coulthard will drive the RB9, which helped Sebastian Vettel secure his fourth world title in 2013, and Webber will be behind the wheel of the RB6, the car that took him close to the championship in 2010.
Ricciardo will present the RB7, the car that won the title in 2011, and even Horner will have the chance to drive one of the Formula 1 machines from the team, specifically the RB8 that secured the championship in 2012. Finally, Klien will take over the RB1 from 2005, symbolizing the beginning of Red Bull’s journey in Formula 1, as they celebrate 20 years of racing at Goodwood.
Red Bull will be joined by five other Formula 1 teams at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed: Alpine, Ferrari, Mercedes, McLaren, and Williams.
