Two decades after introducing the world to the VW Golf R32, the “R” division of the German brand is one step away from becoming an independent brand.
For now, the “R” division will have a specific area in the Autostadt theme park in Wolfsburg. This space will be dedicated to the presentation of new models and the hosting of special events. Starting in the summer of 2024, the performance-focused division of VW will “present itself as an independent brand” in the theme park, with the aim of increasing awareness of its range and its increasingly significant role within the VW Group.
The 100-square-meter pavilion will include presentation and lounge areas, and will be used for the exhibition of new models and technologies, serving as a meeting point for owners of “R” models as well as fans of the brand.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to compete with professional virtual racers in simulators and participate in customer and club events.
“The new Volkswagen R pavilion at Autostadt not only offers us a new location where we can show even better as a premium performance brand within the VW brand world. With this pavilion, we also create a meeting point for the VW R community,” said Peter Jost, sales and marketing director of VW R.
